Revolution: Russian Art 1917-1932

This book accompanies the Revolution: Russian Art 1917–1932 Royal Academy exhibition from (…) 2017, a survey of the entire artistic landscape of post-Revolutionary Russia as it flourished in every way and the possibilities for the future seemed infinite.

The exhibition features artists including Kandinsky, Malevich, Chagall, El Lissitzky and Rodchenko alongside contemporary photography, film, propaganda posters, ration coupons and original Soviet porcelain. Revolution: Russian Art 1917–1932 illustrates how Russian art changed within this period of time: from the bright geometric shapes of Russian avant-garde to the muscular workers and peasants of socialist realism.
